ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Jeff Perry promises ‘rage’ ahead for Cyrus

Cyrus -

Obviously, this past episode of “Scandal” was a devastating one for so many of the characters … but no one suffered quite like Cyrus. Not only did he end up losing the one person in the world he loves more than anyone else in James, but in a way, he has to shoulder responsibility for it. He knows that were it not for some of his own actions (really starting up with what he had James do with Sally Langston’s husband), there was no way that James would have ever ended up in a position to be harmed in the first place. Therefore, he has to live with his role in everything that transpired … and that is not going to be an easy thing for him to do.

Of course, these actions are going to reverberate through the rest of the season, which is something that Jeff Perry made clear during an episode post-mortem with TVLine earlier in the week:

“What Shonda has Cyrus going through now is different aspects of grief. There’s rage, and depression, and reflection…. But with Jake, there’s a somewhat understandable — simultaneously misplaced, in a way, but understandable — rage. In simple-minded terms, it’s like, ‘I asked you to kill Sally….'”

Cyrus is not going to be able to find healing in the blink of an eye, or really the rest of the season. While it is a foregone conclusion that there will most likely be a fourth season for the show, we have a hard time imagining another love interest come into play for Fitz’s right-hand man. How do you move forward from your husband being killed, largely because of what you encouraged him to do? It’s not an issue of trusting the other person so much as trusting yourself.

Of course, Dan Bucatinsky also had plenty to say about this past episode, as well, and you can see most of that by heading over to the link here. Also, sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you want to get some more updates from us sent right to your email.
