‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 15 spoilers: Owain Yeoman on Rigsby’s finale

Rigsby -You have heard about the departure of Rigsby on “The Mentalist” ever since the summer, but on Sunday night’s new episode, we are going to finally have to say goodbye. Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti (Van Pelt) are saying goodbye after the conclusion of the story that has led to Van Pelt’s kidnapping, and while that may be a cause for sadness, you can take some solace in the fact that the two are going to have some sort of worthy send-off.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, Yeoman helped to explain why moving on, as sad as it may be, is probably the best thing for his character and the show at this time. Also, he hinted that there would at least be some sort of conclusion to his arc that the majority of the fans out there would be happy with:

“I think it’s been an important development for the show to try to move things forward. After six years on the air, the formula of a show can become comfortable, so the need to introduce new blood and a new angle is very important. Hopefully people who have followed the show from day one will understand, while they might not love the idea of two beloved characters leaving. Certainly, within the mythology of the episode, they’ll understand why it is that those characters are not going to be around. I think it gives closure for sure.”

Will there still be some great mysteries that follow this case? We want to believe so, but most of it is still under wraps. We do imagine that that Fischer is probably going to be involved more on the way of their departure, which may or may not be a great thing depending on what the writers do with the character.
