‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: Scoop on a Christmas episode, Alison’s father
It has been nice for all “Pretty Little Liars” fans to have a near-continuous stream of episodes for some time, but the reality with this show from time to time is that there have to be breaks … even if they are shorter than the average cable TV show takes.
For this article, we do have some scoop that suggests that one of the breaks could be longer than usual. Which one? Think along the lines of the hiatus between the summer and fall seasons. In breaking the tradition of the past few years, the show is not going to be having a Halloween episode; instead, what we are going to have here is an installment all about Christmas! Marlene King confirmed the news to TVLine, which we’re sure that ABC Family will rope into all of their other Christmas coverage. It’s a little bit surprising that there has not been a holiday episode already, but it does make a little bit of sense when you remember the time of year the show comes on the air. We just wonder what age this will put the main characters at when this episode happens … though we admittedly have a very hard time keeping track of the timeline.
One other conflict that will be explored here with Alison is pretty simple: Where in the world is she going to live? Her mother was killed during the finale, and King explains that there will be a living crisis for her that takes place pretty early on:
“That’s exactly the situation that plays out over the first couple of episodes [in Season 5.] Her father comes home and wants to take her with him, and she has to explore this idea: Do I really want to stay here? Should I make a clean break? That’s all part of her journey.”
Given that Ali’s mom is now dead, we’ve lost that connection in the one person who does know the truth about who tried to kill her daughter … and that may put us back at square one.
