ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 18 review: ‘The Way of the Ninja’ is fun

“Castle” dealt with some pretty serious matters the last time it was on the air with “In the Belly of the Beast,” and it is thanks to that you really cannot be too surprised with the idea of the show livening things up a little bit for “The Way of the Ninja.”

Were there some serious moments in here? Sure, and we’re sure that “Teen Wolf” fans (at least those who watch this later) will be pleased with seeing Arden Cho on here. But this was mostly a fun hour of TV that really played to the strengths of what the series does right sometimes: Conspiracy theories, Caskett moents, and a case with many twists and turns.

Was there really that much that happened here that you really need to remember in the long-term? Not proportionally to anything else, but this episode closed off perfectly, and featured plenty of Castle shenanigans that you would expect, whether that means him having to share an uncomfortable kiss, or him having to confront all sorts different personalities that are apparently somehow tied to the “ninja way.”

The one unfortunate thing about all of this is that this entire story was a little cheesy, and the same can be said for many of the Japanese accents and pronunciation. As someone who spent four years of college studying Japanese, we had to scratch our head a few times during this. Grade: B-.
