‘Veep’ season 3 trailer: Could Selina Meyer fire her whole team?
Sunday, April 6 means more for HBO than just the return of “Game of Thrones” with new episodes. It also marks the big return of “Veep” after it has spent a considerable amount of time on hiatus. This is a show that critics love, and we feel like viewers are still working to get a grasp of. It’s funny, satiric, and also incredibly sarcastic. If there is one problem that the show has run into from time to time, it’s that almost every character is so unlikable that you don’t know who to root for.
Well, the season 3 trailer below does nothing at all to stifle that dilemma. Instead, it reminds you that Selina Meyer is as hungry for power as always. She doesn’t really have any actual sense of loyalty, and seems ready and willing to take down any one person that could come in her way of being elected President … including her entire team.
We cannot really blame Selina for suddenly thinking that this band of misfits is a problem. Mike is a constantly-in-trouble sad-sack who doesn’t have any friends, whereas Gary is an eternal kiss-up, Amy is hard to get to know, and Dan is completely narcissistic. None of these people are the sort you would want to cart around to various political events, so we understand there being a temptation to sack the all.
The upside to keeping them? Well … they’re at least somewhat experienced at this point, and given that she is running for the highest office possible, they’re loyal. (Granted, if she wasn’t running for President, Dan and Amy would probably bail in a second.)
