‘Bones’ season 9, episode 17 preview: Emily Deschanel, cast on new ‘intern’

“Bones” loves their squinterns, and on the new episode airing on Monday night, you are going to get an opportunity to meet the newest intern, a man coming from Cuba (Ignacio Serricchio) who is having to deal with the fact that even though he is an intellectual equal to Dr. Brennan,he is nothing other than an intern at the Jeffersonian. Expect to see some issues relate to culture clash, and ultimately just some more insight into how Brennan reacts to having someone else around her with a similar level of capability.

In the video below, everyone from Serricchio to Emily Deschanel opens up about this new addition, who we have to believe is at least some sort of recurring face on the show the rest of this season. There may not necessarily be a whole lot of it left, but a little bit is still far better than nothing. There are also opportunities for some fun stories ahead before we return to the Ghost Killer storyline near the finale. (Based on what we have heard as of late, this is at least the plan.)

One other thing that we have to hope for? That the ratings recover a little bit from a pretty subpar showing last week in the show’s return to Monday. The one bit of silver lining that the series has is that it has already been renewed for a tenth season, so there is no fear about it really going anywhere.
