‘True Blood’ season 7: What familiar face just landed new comedy gig?
With “True Blood” coming to a close soon on HBO after seven seasons, one of the interesting things out there to watch for right now is seeing just who from this show ends up getting another new TV gig sooner rather than later. Some of these actors may be floating around out there in pilot season, after all; while production is still going strong, the show will be completed filming just in time for some pilots out there to start filming regular series.
With this news, though, we’re talking more about a familiar recurring role than someone who is a longtime series regular.Sources confirm that Anna Camp, who is better known by many fans of this show as Sarah Newlin, has just landed one of the lead roles in ABC’s “Damaged Goods” project. She will play the part of Nicole, a successful lawyer who starts to feel pressure after her boyfriend / colleague Tim (“Revenge” star Justin Hartley) becomes envious of the fact that she gets a promotion offer that he badly wanted. Relationship madness ensues.
Outside of the two actors, the most promising thing about this pilot is that it comes via Luaren Iungerich, the creator of MTV’s criminally-underrated show “Awkward.” She is great at coming up with characters that are both silly and sympathetic, and hopefully she will inject some of that into Nicole like she did Jenna Hamilton at the start of “Awkward” many years ago.
Camp has done quite a few roles over the past two years, having appeared everywhere from “Vegas” on CBS to “True Blood,” “The Mindy Project” (where she was briefly a series regular), and also “How I Met Your Mother” for an episode earlier this season. Hartley was at one point known for playing Oliver Queen on “Smallville.”
