President Obama, Zach Galifianakis film hilarious ‘Between Two Ferns’ episode
The internet has spoken early Tuesday, and apparently, they really like the new interview between Zach Galifianakis and President Obama on “Between Two Ferns.”
After watching the full interview, it’s pretty easy to understand why: This is completely hilarious from start to finish. It’s awkward, random, and contains the President smashing the actor for appearing in three installments of “The Hangover.” The reason that the President did this (we have to assume that there is a reason) is to encourage young people to continue signing up at HealthCare.gov prior to the end of the month. The website works better now apparently, despite all of the jokes about. We’re not going to get into politics and discuss whether or not an episode of a web series is a good use for the Commander-in-Chief’s time, but the fact that “Between Two Ferns” was trending #1 on Twitter for a good part of the day probably means something. If the objective here was to get a number of people talking, then it was a success.
Hopefully, we’ll get some more opportunities to get these sort of interviews with politicians in the future, mostly because it’s a way to circumvent some of the typical talking points, and try to get a message out there in a way that is funny and interesting to a different audience. This sort of stuff is valuable, and it’s much like advertising; sometimes, you have to go far out of the realm of what is normal in order to be noticed.
