ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 14 review: Patrick’s father, Emily and Aiden, and more shockers
“Revenge” is back, and is it fair to say that this story is as juicy as ever? We’d like to say so, given that we saw kissing scenes, someone bleeding out on the ground, and new characters galore all in the span of an hour. It also felt very much like the show was interested in making good on the promise to be darker than it was back when it aired after new “Once Upon a Time” episodes.
We really don’t want to wait at all before getting to the meat of the story: Patrick did not have a happy reunion with his father. While Victoria Grayson is no angel, the man who fathered her child when she was a teenager is hardly any better. He’s worse, and he is also now dead. Patrick’s never going to get a chance to know the guy, and to make matters worse for him, Victoria now has something else to hang over his head.
Just in case all of this was not crazy or dramatic enough, there was then the Emily Thorne story that included her and Aiden seemingly going their separate ways, and her starting to question whether or not there is any way to stop the blackouts. Are they just a byproduct of who she is at this point, and is she becoming her mom?
Speaking of moms, we end with this stunner that we are not quite sure that we like: Stevie Grayson telling Jack that she is his mother. Really? Did you have to make this whole family tree that much more messed up? There’s a difference between being a primetime soap, and then becoming a full-fledged cheesy soap opera. For everything that this episode did right, this is one story that we just cannot get behind yet. Grade: C+.

What I liked: Stevie is Jack’s mother; that opens so many doors for Jack’s character to get entertaining again. I’ve never hated Jack and I don’t blame him for hating the Graysons, but lately he’s been a bit boring. Can’t wait to see what doors will be opened with him. The stuff with Patrick and Jimmy was OK and I’m THANKFUL Conrad did not bang Emily. While I am enjoying Daniel’s rise as a villain, him and Charlotte are kind of a bore. What I disliked: Aiden and Niko; everything looked so promising for a payoff with Satoshi Takeda’s death, yet Emily simply stops herself from killing Niko and tells her to leave. I also give this episode a C+.
