ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3, episode 13 preview: Kerry Washington and a huge move
Just like Lady Gaga apparently seems to live for the applause, we are seeing on “Scandal” time and time again just how much they live for the surprise. These “OMG moments” are hyped up so much in the promos for new episodes, they don’t even really give you an opportunity to let you know what’s actually going on in the story.
Case in point? The first clip below for Thursday night’s new episode “No Sun on the Horizon,” which doesn’t even bother to show you Olivia’s mom, what comes next with Mellie and Andrew, or what happens next with B6-13. All it says instead is that the last thirty seconds contain something so shocking, they will go down in the history of the show.
Now that we’ve gotten all of that out of way, let’s give you some actual scoop on the plot now courtesy of the official synopsis:
“A well prepared Fitz gets thrown a curve ball during the first presidential debate, Olivia receives shocking news and is forced to make an extremely difficult decision, and the gladiators work with a powerful CEO accused of murder. Meanwhile, one dirty little secret could lead to deadly consequences.”
Excited yet? We feel like you really should be since this has the potential to be one of the best stories that has been pulled off here in a long time. The show also needs something big and also something that introduces a little bit more clarity, especially since we’re still not sold that having B6-13 around has really been good for the show at all (even if it gives Kerry Washington good material).

The “OMG” moment has been built up too much. Anything that happens in the last 30 seconds will be a let down.

I am actually hoping that Olivia gets shot or stabbed or seriously
injured in some way. Obviously, this is Kerry Washington’s show and
they are not going to kill her character off. But if Olivia is
seriously hurt, then maybe Fitz will snap out of it long enough to stop
screaming at her and telling her to “shut up.” Maybe he’ll realize how
close he came to losing her and finally step it up and insist on the
divorce.
I know Shonda thinks a presidential divorce is way too
unrealistic and probably will not write it until the end of the series
(if at all!), but seriously, is it any more unrealistic than having the
President murder a Supreme Court Justice? More unrealistic than the
Vice President stabbing her husband to death and then having Cyrus’s
team clean it all up with no problems? Cyrus is a schemer. If
anything, he would have taken pictures of Sally or the dead body or
recorded her saying she had killed him. We all know that Cyrus is not
above breaking the law to get what he wants, and I can’t believe that he
would just have them clean up the crime scene without at least keeping
some piece of evidence to blackmail Sally and make her stay in line.
