NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 6 spoilers: See Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and a mystery singer
Obviously, “The Voice” has decided to get a little cute when it comes to the way in which they promote some of their upcoming episodes, and this time around, that includes them trying to do what they can in order to place us in the same shoes (or the same chair?) as the coaches.
Thanks to this, the contestant auditioning in the video below is basically the singing version of a Twitter profile egg. You cannot see who they are, but you can take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy their cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.” Was it really that enjoyable? Yes and no.
The strengths – Obviously a huge range, which suggests in turn to us the capability to do a number of other really cool things over time depending on the song choice. Also, there was a little bit of emotional vulnerability.
The weaknesses – Way too many runs. There were so many vocal theatrics in here that you almost lost the melody at times.
In the end, we would have most-likely turned around for this singer, but also really coached them on how to properly use these runs in order to be original, but also still within the melody of the tune. Ultimately, we’ll find out a little more about this person’s skill set come Monday night when the episode airs. Plus, we’ll be back with a full review!
What do you think about this idea to promote an episode, and do you like actually being thrown into the same sort of position that the coaches are?
