‘The Mindy Project,’ ‘The Following,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ renewed; waiting on ‘Almost Human’
Big news broke late Friday regarding the state of Fox’s programming: You are going to be seeing a whole lot more of it come next year.
The network confirmed that “The Following,” “The Mindy Project,” “New Girl,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” have all been ordered for additional seasons, with future announcements coming at a later date. The jury is still out on “Dads,” “Raising Hope,” “Enlisted,” and “Almost Human,” though of the four the latter probably has the best shot at getting another go of things. To us, “The Following” is actually the biggest surprise out of the entire group. It may have had better ratings than any of the comedies that we just mentioned, but at least critics all seem to like those. Kevin Bacon and company have become the punching-bag of critics everywhere for some of the bizarre, twist-ridden stories that they tell.
Looking forward to next year, the renewal here that could be the most interesting is “The Mindy Project,” at least when you think about syndication potential. All it needs is just one more season to get to that threshold, and most shows in this position are given the episodes needed to make it happen. The worst-case scenario for a season 4 would be that Fox would order it, and then bury it on a Friday night like they have with another show in “Raising Hope.”
One other thing to remember while we await the rest of Fox’s renewals? That this is a network that has a lot of room to fill, given the cancellation of “The X Factor” after three seasons on the air. That means an extra three hours, and a willingness to give new seasons to shows that may not have otherwise been renewed.
Nonetheless, what do you think about all of this news? Is there a show that you are the most excited to see back on the air? Share some of your thoughts with a comment below.

I hope they renew Almost Human – it’s got great chemistry and loads of potential.
