‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7: Aaron Paul hopes, current castings, and more

It has not been easy to come by much “Sons of Anarchy” scoop these days, and for a good reason. The writers are currently hunkered down working on story, and do you think that they’re going to want to dish out anything substantial on the final season? Hardly.

But if you are looking for some assorted hints about the season, we have that for you today thanks to the extremely-busy Kurt Sutter doing a Q&A on Twitter late Tuesday night. There are three points that we especially want to point out from this.

1. Kurt said that the show is casting some new female characters, which shouldn’t come as a shock. There are new faces every season, and there could be a new void on the law enforcement side for a new male or female officer. Rockmond Dunbar’s Eli died during season 6, and if CCH Pounder ends up becoming a regular on “NCIS: New Orleans” (which will be picked up / not ordered to series by May), her availability may be more limited.

2. The first episode of the season has already been broken, and he is set to begin writing it on Wednesday. Meanwhile, this also happens to be the same day that he and the writers will start to break episode 2.

3. Sutter also would love to get Aaron Paul on the show … though we’re pretty sure most showrunners say the same exact thing. Who wouldn’t want to get Aaron Paul? He’s opening “Need for Speed” this month and has some other films coming up, but his TV future is pretty unclear beyond making guest appearances on “Better Call Saul” (which he has an interest in doing).

Pending some stunning development, “Sons of Anarchy” season 7 will likely premiere in September … and we’ll have some more news every step of the way.
