‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18 spoilers: Russell Wilson turns down invitation
You can officially cross Russell Wilson off the list of people who will be competing on “Dancing with the Stars” … at least for the spring.
Speaking to “Access Hollywood” recently, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback, who has been enjoying a little bit of time with the Texas Rangers organization as of late, expressed that he does not have any interest for the time being in accepting this spot on the show. What’s the reason for that? He simply wants to focus on his football career for now, which is certainly understandable given that he has an enormous payday coming in the future courtesy of a new contract in the next few years.
Wilson also explained, though, that he is someone who does want to take part in the show at some point in the future. He is a “Dancing with the Stars” fan, and he looks forward to entering the ballroom and battling for the Mirrorball Trophy. We feel like he could probably do very well and even win the season that he is on, given that the Seahawks are not only an enormous voting block, but that he is a soft-spoken, polite guy who would get a little of support from Middle America, more so than Keyshawn Johnson or one of the other more acerbic NFL players to be on the show.
As of right now, we consider Tim Tebow to be the leading candidate for the token football player spot. He doesn’t currently have a job on a team, and he already works for Disney thanks to his gig covering the SEC for ESPN. Given the sort of personal stories that ABC loves to tell on this show, you have to think that both Tebow and his sponsors would appreciate the exposure from this show.
