‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Norman Reedus on Daryl’s ‘feral’ change
While this past episode of “The Walking Dead” season 4 may have been missing the Daryl Dixon action that you so demand, the good news that we have for you today is that the next new episode Sunday should more than make up for it.
As we’ve shown you in the promo already, Norman Reedus is going to get plenty of screen time as we see the next step of Daryl’s journey with Beth, and so far, it has certainly been rocky and then some. Daryl is a guy who was finally starting to get into as much of a routine as one could get in when you consider that we’re in a post-apocalyptic world. Then, things started to slowly and surely unravel for him. First of all, there was everything that went down with Carol leading to her departing the prison, and then there was the attack on the prison by The Governor.
Now, he’s on the road with a young woman who he has very little in common with, and that’s going to put an even bigger strain on him. Reedus tells the Wall Street Journal that his character is a “reluctant leader,” and while the following quote may not be specifically directed towards this upcoming episode, we feel like it certainly does apply:
“I’ve always tried to play him like he’s had his back up against the wall, that’s his reason for fighting … he’s back to square one, he’s back to feral, upset Daryl.”
The person that we really feel bad for going into Sunday night is Beth, since she has to find a way to find for herself, relate to Daryl, and make sure she formulates just what her own next step is. Sooner or later, she’ll have to find her voice alongside a man who can certainly be intimidating in extreme situations.
