‘Big Brother Canada 2’ houseguest spotlight: Can Anick Gervais focus enough to win?
Anick Gervais is, in a word, interesting. In some ways, we’re interested in her story. She’s not coming from a huge city like most of the other houseguests, and she doesn’t appear to be anything like any of the other people in the house.
But, here’s the problem when it comes to “Big Brother Canada” this season: We have a hard time thinking that everyone is going to be able to relate to her, and her spiritual, unorthodox outlook on life is going to make her stand out almost right away. While we know that Slice didn’t go out hoping to find just carbon copies of other people, she’s basically an even more trippy version of Ashley from season 14. Her facial expression also reminds us a little bit of Rose from “Two and a Half Men.”
Now, without further ado, let’s get into actually analyzing her gameplay strengths and weaknesses.
Name – Anick Gervais
Age – 28
Location – Hanmer, Ontario (which is north of Sudbury, and considered depending on who you ask to be part of Greater Sudbury)
Occupation – Reiki Master. Even though we speak Japanese and studied it for years, we still had to look this up. Reiki is a form of Japanese healing that focuses on hand placement as a means of relaxation and also stress reduction. You better believe that Anick shows this off at least five times in the house.
Three adjectives we’d use to describe her – Spiritual, aloof, and confident
Strengths – The reason that we use “confident” to describe Anick is because you have to really believe in yourself to choose a line of work that is so out there, especially not when you’re coming from a smaller city like the Sudbury region. We feel like people will be fascinated by what she does and some of her beliefs, that is going to lead to her attracting interest from some of the other players in the game. Even people not interested in a showmance will be intrigued to get to know her, and she’s not going to do anything overtly to come across as a threat.
Weaknesses – Basically, Anick has no strategy whatsoever, claiming that she’s going to leave that up to the universe. What if the universe wants her to rip Marsha the Moose off of the wall and start wearing her like a mask? There’s a difference between being true to yourself and doing so while playing a game, and there’s a part of her bio that comes across like she is trying to hard to play a character rather than just being someone trying to win the game.
Past “Big Brother” comparison – Like we said, Ashley. There’s not even a debate here. She may like Dr. Will, but she’s nothing like him. Ashley was a similar player who people liked having in the game to a certain point, and nobody was worried about at all as a possible winner.
Outlook – There is no way that Anick wins this game. However, this makes her a perfect person to go really far. The only reason that we see her leaving early would be if there is just a Head of Household with a grudge, or she pairs up with the wrong person who torpedoes her entire game. Otherwise, a smart person who allow her to get to around the final five or so, then figure out whether or not to get rid of her before the final two.

Not a big fan of anick. Personally I think she’s a phony and her opening answers about her pet peeves describe her to a tee.
