‘Criminal Minds’ season 9, episode 17 preview: The next case for Thomas Gibson, cast

After an episode of “Criminal Minds” this week that was clearly a standalone story, what direction did the writers go with? Think along the lines of something else that could be strictly procedural. There is not too much known about “Persuasion” as of yet, save for a mystery that is going to center around a rather mysterious series of drownings. From the standpoint of premise alone, it could be interested; but as we always say, you need more than that! This episode better hope for some pretty darn fantastic performances to keep you glued to the screen.

First of all, let’s start by sharing the official synopsis released by CBS for the hour:

“Mysterious drowning deaths discovered in the Las Vegas desert have the BAU trying to figure out the true cause and motive for the murders.”

Unfortunately, the promo doesn’t really do that much more other than show some sort of dark, horrifying part of Las Vegas, and also make us start to believe that they really want to make the narrator sound like he is advertising some sort of horror film. Seriously, isn’t this show supposed to be about the good guys, rather than hyping up all the horrifying stuff? If there has ever been one major criticism that we’ve had of this show as a whole, it is that not enough time is spent hyping up the heroes that could be.
