‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18: Erin Andrews will co-host; plus, more details
You knew that this move was coming, and it is now finally official: Erin Andrews is going to become the latest co-host for ABC’s long-running show “Dancing with the Stars.”
This news was first reported earlier in the day, but later confirmed via People Magazine. This quick turnaround suggests that Andrews has been on the mind of producers for quite a while, and she does at least bring a good deal of interviewing experience to the table. The one thing that she could work on? Fun, since she often has come off as very serious in many of her interviews … even ones that are intended to be fun.
As for how this is worked out with her other employer Fox News, the first thing that should be made known is that Fox completely signed off on every little detail in regards to this gig. That network will be her primary place of business still, and she will continue to be a presence for NFL events and other sports that air across their family of networks. The benefit of doing “Dancing with the Stars” is that you are only live two hours a week, and while there is of course more that goes into it, Fox Sports has never really been known for their Monday-night programming.
Andrews already has a lengthy history with ABC’s parent company Disney, having worked for ESPN for many years prior to her departing and joining the Fox family. In going home, it shows that there is no bad blood for anyone.
