‘American Idol XIII’: Malaya Watson, Dexter Roberts, top 13 shoot official photos
There are many traditions that come with being in the “American Idol” top 13, whether it be getting the opportunity to perform at the first major performance show with the guys and girls, getting more of the star treatment, and also simply getting an opportunity to have some more high-quality photos taken of you.
Over the weekend, all of the top 13 (including Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Malaya Watson, and everyone else who we’ve ranked over at the link here) all took part in the ever-so-traditional photo shoot, which exists for the main purpose of giving you something more that looks official. Not only that, but this allows the press to have more great things to share online. We know that we’ll be putting up a full gallery of these images once they are released.
There are still some milestone figures coming up for the show, including the big reveal as to who could be going on the summer tour. Typically, only the top ten or eleven get to take part, meaning that there will be at least two more contestants to go home before that. The show better hope for some of these contestants to be extremely notable, given how poor some of the tour figures were this past summer. While there were still a number of people who came out, it was one of the shorter tours in the show’s history and one that was mostly under-the-radar.
Once you get around to the top five or so, that is where you typically are in a position where you could be signed to some sort of big record deal for the future. There are some exceptions here and there of early boots who at least get a chance to make music (Pia Toscano at least got a single before she and Interscope mutually parted), but this is where many singers seeking a record deal should try to land.
