Will Ferrell makes his audition for ‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 … sort of
For everyone out there who was hoping to see Will Ferrell on “Downton Abbey” next season … well, you’re going to have to keep hoping. But hey, we never expected Paul Giamatti to be on the show, either.
In what has to be one of the funniest videos to come out of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” since its premiere earlier this week, we have the clip below of Will dressed almost as though he is the finest footman in all of the land, who also knows a thing or two about dancing. It’s almost like an ice-skating routine, minus the part where there is actually some ice-skating going on. Ironically, Will must have not have felt like reprising his work in “Blades of Glory” for this one. (Given the physical stuff that is at play in that movie, we don’t blame him.)
All joking aside, we actually don’t think Will would be that terrible as an American character on the show if he ever did try out. He has done some dramatic work (“Stranger Than Fiction” had some great moments), and there are still some people on the show with a comic energy like Shirley MacLaine or at times Maggie Smith. But, we know that suggesting anything hat we have in this paragraph would probably lead to completely evisceration on the internet.
What we will continue to say for now is that there are still some very interesting things ahead for “Downton Abbey.” The season finale airs in America on Sunday, and we can tell you right now that the fifth season is already being filmed in the United Kingdom. Production on that will continue from now until around August, and then go on hiatus for a time.
