‘Homeland’ season 4: Morena Baccarin’s future even more in doubt thanks to new pilot
While we knew already that Morena Baccarin was no longer going to be a series regular on “Homeland,” we did at least hold out a reasonable amount of hope that she could still be a part of the Showtime drama for at least a few episodes. Maybe this news doesn’t effect that.
Either way, it’s safe to say that the actress, also of course known for “Firefly” and “V,” has potentially found herself a new home depending on what ABC chooses to do this spring. Baccarin has signed on for “Warriors,” a drama that will focuses on doctors and nurses at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Basically, it is a show that could provide an opportunity to shine a light on what soldiers really go through upon returning from war, and not in the way that you traditionally see it done elsewhere.
Baccarin specifically is Tory Sterling, a soldier and also a mother / wife who just returned to work at the hospital after spending nine months overseas at Afghanistan. However, the twist here is that there is something that transpired over there that she is still struggling with, and she is having a pretty hard time discussing it or coping completely.
ABC has clearly had some success in the world of medical dramas, given that “Grey’s Anatomy” has been on for so long and that “Private Practice” also aired for a good many years before its end. Do we really need another? It’ll all depend on whether or not this show really works to put itself in a different space than some of the other competition that is already out there.
