‘American Idol’ XIII results: Are Jessica Meuse, M.K. Nobilette, Ben Briley in America’s top 10?

Jess -You have to give some of the producers of “American Idol” credit for one thing this year: Wasting almost no time at all letting you know some results during the actual results show. what a novel concept! It almost makes you wish that someone out there had thought of it sooner.

By the time the first commercial break ended for tonight’s results show, the first eight people were placed into stools, and they were followed soon after by a couple more names. The second half of the show was themed all around performances, and we enjoyed the pacing of all this very much … along with the exuberant reactions from some of the hopefuls.

Now, let’s get to some of those names!

The top 10 voted by America

Malaya Watson – Of course, she was voted through! She got the pimp spot at the end of the girls’ performance show. That’s almost always a guarantee. Also, greatest celebration ever.

Ben Briley – Another one that we predicted; he already had the support of America, and the funny thing here was that he completely missed someone who was trying to embrace him.

Emily Piriz – Who says that singing a song that Harry Connick Jr. found questionably is a deterrent? Maybe she got some support from people who were angry at Harry.

Alex Preston – Another predictable selection, but a good one. He is probably the most talented guy musically in the entire crop this season.

Jessica Meuse – We were totally surprised by this one. Pleasantly surprised. We thought that her terrible edit was going to force her into the sing-off.

Dexter Roberts – There was little doubt here, mostly because Americans love their country like they love their fireworks and barbecue.

Caleb Johnson – A little surprised, but mostly because he performed first on the night. Also, he handled Ryan Seacrest like he was a brand-new squeak toy for a puppy.

Majesty Rose – Thankfully, she was far kinder to Ryan. Also, she went first and still found a way to get through by the judges’ vote.

M.K. Nobilette – So this should really continue to further the notion that America really has no problem at all with an openly-gay contestant. Take that, conspiracy theorists!

Sam Woolf – Clearly, America really has a type when it comes to men … it’s a white guy who loves strumming the guitar. To be fair, though, the only major change that we would have made is replacing Caleb with CJ Harris.

Do you think that America made the right picks? Share below! We’ll have a link here soon to the second part of our results tonight, so be on the lookout for that. (Update: It’s now live at this link!)
