‘True Detective’ spoilers: Scoop on the final two episodes
The worst thing about “True Detective” is really pretty simple: It’s a show that only has a eight-episode season. The entire story is told in a short amount of time, and then it is gone until it potentially returns next year with more new episodes. The show’s future is still a little bit uncertain, but it it does end up coming back on television, it will probably be with both an all-new cast and also an all-new story.
But what we have for you now to help ease to pain? How about a few new details about what are the final episodes of the season? HBO released the new synopses below via an official press release this week, and they give you at least a little insight on some assorted details.
Episode 7, “After You’re Gone” (airing March 2) – “Hart (Woody Harrelson) and Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) forge a truce to probe a murky string of disappearances that tie to the symbology of the Dora Lange murder and the Tuttle family.”
Episode 8, “Form and Void” (airing March 9) – “An overlooked detail provides Hart and Cohle with an important new lead in their 17-year-old case.”
There are two things in here that are probably worth especially mentioning when it comes to this information. For one, it prove that the show is not afraid of going up against the Academy Awards; also, it suggests that by the time all of this is over, Hart and Cohle could be back on the hunt together in order to solve a case that they assumed for a long time was already solved. Does this mean that Cohle himself is not directly involved in the investigation? We certainly hope so.
