‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 filming starts with Michelle Dockery, more
For those of you wondering when “Downton Abbey” season 5 will officially start filming, the answer is pretty simple: It already is. The cast is in England now filming what will be the next eight episodes and Christmas special, which will start airing on ITV this fall.
So who has been spotted so far? Michelle Dockery and Tom Cullen have each been seen at some point filming the show, but we are going to leave some of the details of it out now to avoid any spoilers about what each one of them may have been spotted doing. Both are confirmed to have presence in the story ahead, and just in case you are wondering whether or not this is confirmation that Mary is for sure going to choose Lord Anthony Gillingham over Charles Blake, it’s not. After all, Julian Ovenden has also been confirmed to be popping up at some point as the character.
The “Downton Abbey” filming process is reasonably long, but at the same time, there are also much longer productions out there when you look at shows that have a 22 or 24-episode seasons. These shows often keep you busy for around nine or ten months a year, while you can get through most of this one is around half a year, with a month or so as a margin of error. The actors still have a time to do some other projects, and that even includes gigs on other television shows. It’s one of the luxuries of a short season, which is something that almost all non-soap series have in the United Kingdom.
