‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Nathaniel Buzolic of ‘Vampire Diaries’ scores ‘Tribes’ role
The casting agents behind the upcoming “Supernatural” spin-off “Tribes” have made at least one brilliant decision, as they have brought on someone with a huge CW fan following already onto the show in a big role.
Sources confirm that Nathan Buzolic, who is best known for playing Kol on “The Vampire Diaries” over the years, has been booked to play the part of David Hayden, a shapeshifter who hails from one of the most powerful families in Chicago. He has been trying for many years to live as a human, but whether or not that has been successful is still somewhat up for debate.
In casting Buzolic, “Supernatural: Tribes” at least has one person already that has a huge social-media following, and that should help it get off to a good start, given that this is a show that isn’t carrying over any of the characters from the original series.
This is the part of the show that we’re worried about: The casting of Lucien Laviscount as lead Ennis Roth, a cop in Chicago who finds himself at the center of all of the drama and craziness that unfolds in the city. We’re not really that familiar with his work on either “Skins” or “Coronation Street,” and this may also be the power of just perception. We pictured in our head someone a little bit older, like Adewale Akinnuoye-Abgaje (Mr. Eko from “Lost”), in the part. Laviscount does still have CW history, though, given that he was a part of the recent failed pilot for “The Selection.”
“Supernatural” will air this backdoor pilot during the April 29 episode of season 9. The decision to order this to series could either come before this after the network sees the project, or after they gauge reaction from the public.
