‘Under the Dome’ season 2 spoilers: ‘ER’ favorite cast for important role
The cast for “Under the Dome” season 2 is expanding yet again, and this time around, CBS is recruiting a former star for “ER” to be a part of the proceedings.
Sources confirm that Sherry Springfield, who worked alongside “Under the Dome” executive producer Neal Baer on the series, is set to recur throughout the episodes ahead as Pauline, a very mysterious woman with ties to the history of both Chester’s Mill and the dome itself.
What is somewhat interesting about this role is that in the book, the Pauline part is extremely connected to the Big Jim character … but for the time being, it is unclear as to whether or not CBS and Baer are going to go in this same direction with the character on the show. They are being very secretive when it comes to this role, and for good reason. After all, they don’t want any information to leak out one way or another about how she impacts the show’s story.
“Under the Dome” will once again air new episodes on CBS this summer, with the hope being that it will again deliver the enormous ratings that it did in 2013. We’ll be personally surprised if it does, but that is only due to the year-to-year decline that we saw from “The Following” this time around on Fox, which is another network serial that received some mixed reviews throughout its first season. The network has a ton of faith in the show, and as a matter of fact, they are using the model even as a form of inspiration for some of their other upcoming shows like “Extant” featuring Halle Berry.
