‘Opposite Worlds’ review: Did Frank enter ‘beast mode’ yet again?
For all of you who were hoping to see Frank once again prove himself to be the ultimate fighting machine on “Opposite Worlds,” tonight’s new episode probably made you very pleased. It was over-the-top, entertaining, and reminded us a little bit about why we liked this show (even if we hated last night’s episode).
The thing here is that Frank is a great TV character. He’s completely over the top, obnoxious, and he almost feels like playing as the Sentinel in one of the “Mortal Kombat vs. DC” fighting games. It just doesn’t seem fair! It’s hard to create a challenge that he would not be good at, since you are basically having to do so much in such a tiny amount of time. Strategy challenges are his weak point, but tonight he just let Samm do all of that in the battle between Jesse and Mercy.
We do have to say, though, that we lost a good villain in Jesse, who was mostly the victim of the fact that just about everyone, even a member of his own team in Jeffry, wanted him out. Jeffry has done a good job of actually staying around in the game this far, but we really don’t feel like he has much of a shot at winning at all.
Instead, this is really all about Lauren and Samm at this point. America loves them, and they have JR also on their side, and he is hurt enough for him to be taken out at any point in the future. Frank is really the only stumbling block, and that’s appropriate given that he is on an island. He just has to hope that there are no more events coming up where the players can vote him out of the game … since he would definitely be in trouble then. Grade: B.
