‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 debate: Should John Noble be the big bad?

At the end of the last season of “Sleepy Hollow,” there is no doubt that the show delivered what has to be considered one of its biggest shockers yet: The reveal that Ichabod Crane’s son Jeremy was not only still alive, but he was now a man who had taken on the name of Henry Parrish. Not only that, but this man also happened to be the War Horseman of the Apocalypse, joining the legion of Abraham.

Basically, the last few minutes of that first season were just about as horrible as horrible can be for Tom Mison’s character and company. But, at the same time, they did start to get us wondering a little bit: Should Jeremy be the major villain of the second season?

The case for him is very simple: It’s John Noble first and foremost, and you should take advantage of almost anything and everything in order to utilize his many talents. We didn’t know how long it would take for him to land another spectacular role after “Fringe,” and are thrilled that he has found it here. Plus, he’s a little more of an interesting villain to us than Moloch, at least in that he has a defined face, a voice, and a story that we know a lot more about than some ancient demon bent on destroying much of humankind.

As for the case against him, it’s simple: Labeling him the Big Bad now eliminates the possibility of someone else rising to the surface. Not only that, but it also limits potentially the wiggle room that he could have to shuffle alliances. Like we said, Noble is fantastic, and what could be more fantastic than seeing the character constantly debate between good and evil? He’s capable of playing all sorts of material, so why not just throw everything at him?

Sadly, we’re going to have to wait a while to find out either way, given that the new season will not premiere until likely either the late summer or early fall.
