‘King of the Nerds’ season 2, episode 5 rankings: Can Brian Davidson and his beard win this show?

Brian -We are down to 7 contestants left on “King of the Nerds” season 2 and for the past three weeks this has pretty much been the Zachary Storch show (not that we mind since he is great entertainment!). Not only has his nerd rage outbursts been most of this seasons storyline, but he’s been in the Nerd Off three weeks in a row now sending home Josh, then Mary Kate, and now Nicole. He’s painted a huge target on himself by not only causing some friction in the house, but also by showing just how strong of a challenge player he is. Can anyone defeat him?

Our rankings this week are based on TV edit, strategy, likability, and performances in the various tasks.

7. Zachary Storch (last week 8): Zack has really tried to turn things around with everyone in Nerdvana after his apology to everyone, but can he undo everything that’s happened? Zack is an easy target for his team to put up if they have to go to the Nerd Off again, and has also proven himself to be a challenge beast, so people might be scared of him at this point and realize that they need to get him out of the game before the teams are dismantled and it’s every nerd for themselves.

6. Jack Hou (last week 5): We worry for Jack, not because he’s a bad player, but just because he’s on the gold team and they can’t win a challenge to save their lives. If they lose the next challenge then he and  Katie will likely put up Zack and the other team will never put up Katie so it will be Jack that Zack will face off against. Can Jack be the one to take Zack down?

5. Kayla LaFrance (last week 6): Kayla has been playing her cards close to her vest this season and while she gets along with everyone pretty well we suspect that if her team loses that we might see a much tougher side of her that will do whatever it takes to stay in Nerdvana. We’ve seen glimpses of Kayla’s tough side before and we could see it making people nervous enough to get her out.

4. Xander Jeanneret (last week 3): We still feel that Xander isn’t in any danger of going home any time soon. He’s been playing a very smart game as he’s been a leader, a team player and a likable guy, however soon the teams will be dismantled and we wonder if there is some sort of math or science related challenge that comes up and he’s on his own if he will be able to pull out a win. Once it’s every nerd for themselves we could see people wanting to get Xander out of the game since he is a big threat and would be hard to beat at the end of the game. We certainly wouldn’t want to go up against him at the end.

3. Chris Jackson (last week 2): With Zack winning his third straight Nerd Off in a row, Chris is in pure strategy mode to get him out of the game. He knows that the teams will be dismantled soon, so having Zack who is a challenge beast still floating around in the game at that time is dangerous. While Chris’ strategy is sound, we worry about Zack finding out about it and targeting Chris.

2. Brian Davidson (last week 4): We weren’t sure about Brian during the first few weeks of this show since he’s barely been featured, but we are starting to think that this might be a clue to how he’s actually doing in the game. Everyone likes him, he hasn’t caused any trouble, he’s worked hard on every challenge without being the leader and falls into the shadows when drama erupts (also he has an epic beard that we love). It’s a perfect plan to go far in this type of game.

1. Katie Correll (last week 1): Katie is sitting pretty right now. Yes she has been moved over to the gold team which is pretty much a disaster, but if they lose again this week, Jack and Katie will likely vote in Zack again and since she still has an allegiance with the purple team they will never vote her in. We just can’t see her going home any time soon.
