TV quick hits: ‘Gotham,’ ‘Mistresses’ season 2, ‘Ray Donovan,’ ‘Graceland,’ and other castings
For this edition of TV quick hits, we’ve got a massive heap of TV castings to share with you on some shows old and new that are coming up here, whether it be some new faces in the DC Comics universe, or someone heading over to USA or Showtime for some new roles in the summer.
“Gotham” casts its notable characters – Fresh off of the news that the upcoming Fox series has cast Ben McKenzie to play James Gordon, the news has also come in now on some of the other notable characters. For example, “The Walking Dead” alum Robin Lord Taylor will be the Penguin, otherwise known as Oswald Cobblepot. Meanwhile, British actor Sean Pertwee will play a younger version of Alfred the Butler than we have seen in some other adaptations.
As for the ladies, Zabryna Guevara (“Burn Notice”) is going to play Gordon’s boss in Captain Essen, who is extremely skilled at her job, while Erin Richards (“Breaking In”) will play the part of Gordon’s fiancee Barbara Kean.
“Mistresses” adds someone new – According to TVLine, Joseph May (“Episodes”) is set to recur on the summer series as Mickey, April’s gay BFF who not only has served as a business partner for her, but she has also known since childhood.
Another casting for “Ray Donovan” – According to Deadline, Vinessa Shaw is going to recur on the second season as a reporter for the Boston Globe who is writing a book on Sully.
“Graceland’s” new baddie – Also per TVLine, “General Hospital” actor Erik Valdez will recur on the second season of the USA series in the role of a Carlito Solano, a spoiled man who has been handed quite a bit in his life … and that includes a crime empire that he helps to oversee.
MTV orders “Eye Candy” – For those who love Victoria Justice, you will be pleased to know that she is going to return to TV in this new project, which stars her as a hacker who is able to expose all sorts of terrible plots courtesy of a blog.
