‘The X Factor’ UK winner Sam Bailey talks debut album ‘The Power of Love’
Sam Bailey managed to really breeze through the whole recording process! Even though it has not even been two months since the end of “The X Factor” UK, she already has her entire debut album recorded … and that is even when you consider that there was also a little bit of time off in there for her to regroup and enjoy Christmas with her family.
Here is what we can tell you about the reigning champ right now: Her debut disc is called “The Power of Love,” and will be out in stores on March 24. That is not only many months earlier than when James Arthur released his own debut, but also many months before he even released his first single “You’re Nobody Til Somebody Loves You.” This album is going to feature a variety of different things, and that was something that Sam was willing to dish on during a new interview with Digital Spy:
“I spent three weeks recording it and I’ve yet to hear the finished thing. The whole experience was a really chilled affair as we worked on it with people from the show. I’m looking forward to hearing the final thing as when we were making it, I was singing over plain backing tracks and they’ve built the music up after.
“The album itself is a mixture of everything. There are new songs and covers, but I think they’ll be covers that people won’t have heard in a long time. There’s a couple of duets on there as well which I’m very excited about. One is with Michael Bolton, who has been such a great support network and inspiration. I call him the Boltmeister!”
Bailey’s challenge is mostly going to be drawing sales for an album at a time when most people aren’t focused on buying music, and also after there were so many questions about whether or not someone like her could sell records at the end of the day. We feel like that she can, given what we saw from Susan Boyle and others. However, she needs the right music and also the right people supporting her.
The “X Factor” runner-up from the UK in Nicholas McDonald has already released his own debut single, which you can listen to over at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up now for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you want to see some other TV updates popping up in your email inbox.
