‘Survivor: Cagayan’ castaway spotlight: Can Brice Johnston mastermind his way to a win?
There are some big characters on “Survivor: Cagayan,” and you have to think that Brice Johnston is going to be one of them. He’s charismatic, not afraid to speak of his mind, and adaptable. He’s also one of the few guys out there who actually admits in the video below that he has no problem with being a little “fake” if it will get him a million dollars at the end of the day.
In the end, who we have here is someone who is going into this game with some confidence, some understanding of how “Survivor” works, and also an interesting strategy to cause a little bit of chaos. Will any of this work? That is what we’re going to try to figure out in the rest of our spotlight below!
Name – Brice Johnston
Age – 27
Location – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Occupation – Social worker
Tribe -Solana (a.k.a the Beauty Tribe)
What he brings to the game – Personality, first and foremost. He’s got a different style than everyone else in the cast, and a different sense of humor. There are more times in his video that we laughed than probably in any of the others. He also suggests that he is in pretty good shape, and he has a strategy that is going to involve a lot of legitimate playing. He wants to try to turn some of the players potentially against one another, with one of the real methods to hide the madness by trying to get himself in positions to mediate, and then look like the good guy for problems he may have helped to stir up.
Where he will get in trouble – Brice is on a tribe of people who all seem at first glance to be fairly laid-back and interested in having a good time. Therefore, he’s really got to watch just how much trouble he wants to create. If it’s obvious that he is trying to force the issue and stir things up, it doesn’t matter how good you are at challenges or how helpful you are around camp. Our only other concern is that Brice doesn’t really talk about how much survival experience he has, and we know that there are a couple of other people on his tribe (see: Jefra) who have plenty. He’ll have to adapt quickly.
Past “Survivor” comparison – We don’t know how Brice thought of Ozzy, Cirie, and Colton to compare himself to (granted, he gave these answers before “Blood vs. Water”). He has a little bit of a dastardly mind kind of like Colton or Russell Hantz, but we also get a little bit of Kenny from “Gabon” when it comes to trying to prove what he can do … and also a little Cirie. We’re just not willing to say Ozzie unless we know for sure you’re going to be an unstoppable challenge force. Brice may be good, but so will others.
Prediction – We want to see Brice make it far in this game, since we’d take a new big personality like his over some more general young women, a guy with a Southern accent, or anyone who thinks that winning challenges is all that matters. Unfortunately, we think he’s going to have trouble with his tribe. He’d do very well if he was on the Brawn, which could be more combustible; with the Beauty tribe, his described strategy will probably lead to an early exit.
