‘Ray Donovan’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Simpsons’ star Hank Azaria gets major role
Hank Azaria has spent his career alternating between voice work and some on-camera acting, and he just snagged a major dose of the latter courtesy of the second season of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.”
Sources confirm that “The Simpsons” voice actor is going to be a major part of the show as James Cochran, the head of the Los Angeles division of the FBI. He clearly is someone with a great deal of power, especially given the fact that he is currently working hard to advance to national direction. (We suppose if you can handle the craziness that comes with being in charge of one of the biggest cities in America, there is quite a bit that you can take on.)
“Ray Donovan” premiered last summer on Showtime to some pretty solid ratings, in addition to getting a little bit of attention when it comes to Jon Voight’s performance. But, it’s got a much bigger challenge moving into season 2. For example, the show no longer has “Dexter” to rely on as a lead-in, and will instead be forced to rely on its own strength and popularity to carry it through. That’s always a challenge for a show that is still in the process of finding an audience. But, Azaria is good actor to bring on board, and we know already that Cochran and Ray are going to interact on a number of occasions.
There is no premiere date for the second season of the show just yet, but we would say at the moment that it is probably safe to expect it to come back on the air at around June.
