‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ season 4, episode 14 review: How much ‘Vanderpump Rules’ is too much?
For most of this season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” we have been stuck in the Brandi vs Joyce circle of suck, and now that it’s finally ended we have moved on to much more interesting topics… such as Carlton’s adult parties, her putting (or not putting) a “hex” on Joyce and her being convinced that Kyle is talking smack about her Wiccan religion behind her back. Carlton may be a little crazy, but it’s that rich people crazy drama that has been sorely missing this season.
Joyce and the hex: Joyce invites Carlton to lunch she tells Joyce that she is bothered about how flippant Joyce was about her religious beliefs and spells. Joyce reveals that after Carlton’s comment to her basically saying that if she doesn’t believe in spells that she should go home and see what happens that her and Michael went out to dinner that night and he got violently ill. Carlton got very offended by the idea that Joyce would think that she would do something to hurt Joyce’s family… which was a little odd since Carlton did warn her to “look out” the day before. You can’t put the idea in someone’s head one day that they are going to do something to them and then be offended when they come and ask you if you did something to them.
Lisa and Kyle throw a party: Even though Carlton and Kyle seemed to be on better terms, after Carlton’s “bad dream” about Kyle talking behind her back (and hearing that Kyle had said some “rude comments” at her pool party) Kyle is back on Carlton’s bad girl list. When Carlton finally tells Kyle what she’s upset with her over she reveals that it’s because Kyle said that she didn’t want to use Carlton’s bathroom because it was gross (a little reference here: Kyle said it right after someone did a number 2 in there). Things of course escalate quickly as they do on this show, but it seems that there’s something deeper that Carlton is mad about when it comes to Kyle… but we haven’t seen anything happen this season that would generate this kind of anger. So what ever happened to the necklace peace offering from last week at Carlton’s party? Carlton threw the necklace in distilled water to wash all of Kyle’s bad mojo off of it. The fight ends with Carlton leaving the party and refusing to engage in any further conversation with Kyle, but what was interesting was hearing Brandi say that Carlton was looking for drama with Kyle when there really isn’t any there.
Also going on at the party we have the weekly crossover from Lisa’s other show “Vanderpump Rules” (which we are quite frankly getting sick of) and we learn that Scheana (the girl that slept with Brandi’s ex-husband and that we care nothing about) is engaged. Lisa pushes Brandi to say something to Scheana about her engagement, but we don’t really get why. They have already worked out the tension between them and they are clearly never going to be friends so why should Brandi go over and wish her well? When Scheana starts flaunting her ring in Brandi’s face, Brandi does congratulate her and Scheana calls her out on not actually being happy for her. Brandi tells her that she just has a different outlook on marriage thanks to Scheana having an affair with her ex-husband and Scheana thanks her like it’s a compliment. In the end we really just hope that this crossover from “Vanderpump Rules” stops because Scheana, Jax and Lisa’s SUR staff is not what we watch “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for.
