Super Bowl commercials: Was ‘Revenge’ star Emily VanCamp in ‘Captain America’ trailer?

There are Super Bowl commercials that are all about selling little products in silly ways, and then there are ones really trying to get you to pick up a feature film. When it comes to the big game on Sunday night, the “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” peek at least gave you a glimpse at the action … but didn’t really take advantage of a TV audience that would have been excited to see one of its stars in Emily VanCamp.

Unfortunately, let’s just say that VanCamp didn’t really make her presence felt at all in the ad for the movie during the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

What worked – Obviously, it’s Captain America, and that is a huge franchise. Everyone who is a Marvel mega-fan wants to check out this movie this summer, and they would have been excited to see it pretty much as long as there was some sort of footage in it. After all, you did at least get a glimpse of the Winter Soldier!

What didn’t – Personally, we would’ve at least liked to see Emily … but we speak more as a TV viewer who covers “Revenge” versus someone who watches a ton of movies. There was still Scarlett Johansson, and Sebastian Stan has done some great TV stuff including “Gossip Girl” and “Once Upon a Time.”

Grade: B. It all depends on just how big of a “Captain America” fan you are.
