‘The Voice’ UK preview: Kylie Minogue tries to bribe contestant (video)
Clearly, Kylie Minogue is really hoping that she can get someone to sign up for her team on “The Voice” UK Saturday; as a matter of fact, she has no shame whatever to try to trade various objects in her bag with them in an effort to try and make it happen faster.
Kylie’s pitch has to be one of the more entertaining / desperate ones that we’ve seen to try and get a contestant, as she tries to do just about everything from show them perfume to try on her sunglasses to even offer them some sort of security clearance card, just so that she can have the unknown contestant on her team. Typically, we have noticed over multiple versions of this series that this is enough for something to happen … at least most of the time. Christina Aguilera on the American show pulled a similar sort of series of stunts just to make sure that she could land Matthew Schuler, and it worked! Unfortunately for her, Matthew failed to reach the finale this past season.
The biggest benefit that almost anything on Kylie’s team has almost right away is Kylie herself. There is almost no doubting whatsoever that she is one of the biggest stars in music, and has a legion of diehard fans ready to support her at every turn. As for whether or not these fans will turn out as big as Sir Tom Jones’ audience … that remains to be seen. He has probably been shown to have one of the more consistent followings out of all the coaches time and time again, even though nobody really compares at the moment to the sort of crowd that Blake Shelton has supporting him on “The Voice.”
