‘Homeland’ season 4 speculation: Could Damian Lewis return in some form?
If you are a “Homeland” fan, you probably should roll your eyes at the title above for at least a second or two. That is what we would do. After all, it was not that long ago that we first (spoiler alert!) had to deal with the death of Damian Lewis’ Nicholas Brody; the idea of him popping back up now is rather absurd.
First of all, this is not “The Walking Dead.” There will be no zombie Brody, which is a good thing since Carrie would probably still try to irrationally protect him at all cost. (Still, we have little doubt that Damian would totally kill it … which is probably a bad choice of words, given what we are talking about here.)
For some more on this subject, let’s turn to Mandy Patinkin, who had a pretty surprising perspective on the subject when asked about it recently to E! News:
“I would say [a Brody return is possible]. I don’t think it will be a regular occurrence, but I think it will be an emotional, occasional occurrence.”
The only way that we could see it is if Carrie in some ways either imagines what Brody’s perspective would be on some of the issues on her plate, or if the Brody family is still involved in such a way that there are flashbacks; but, given that Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor are no longer series regulars, that could be difficult. We want Brody to still be remembered on the show, but there is a difference between being remembered and actually been seen. That is a distinction that needs to be handled very carefully.
What do you think: Should there be some Brody flashbacks on “Homeland” next season, or is this too big of a stretch for even this show to make? Homeland died when Brody died. Was it believable that Carrie and Brody could live happily ever after? Of course not. But that is no LESS believable than the idea of a bipolar CIA agent-! Moreover, the heart of the show was their unlikely love affair, so amputating it was tantamount to beheading the show itself. By-by Homeland, you were great for two seasons.

Not just flashbacks, but Brody needs to come back!
