‘Call the Midwife’ season 3, episode 3 preview: Jessica Raine, romance, and … jail?
For next week’s new episode of BBC One’s “Call the Midwife,” we are going to see the characters take off to what is a very different sort of place than they are used to being: Prison. However, it may not be for the same reason that you see on many other shows.
Rather, many of the characters are going to visit the slammer in a way for us to get greater insight on how women actually welcome children under such precarious circumstances. Many of the ladies behind bars are there due to some sort of petty crime, but still they are not given the best sort of circumstances in order to welcome a child into the world. They know that their time spent with the little one will be brief, and they still have a sentence left to serve. Save for what we saw during tonight’s episode with Doris, this is one of the saddest situations possible.
Also, expect to see some romantic scenes for Jessica Raine to play, which should be a nice contrast to all of the heavy drama so far this season. On the flip side, there is going to be a particularly large confrontation at one point in the hour; while it may not necessarily turn violent, it will still be a pretty rough thing to watch unfold. Given that the majority of the season is still left to air, we like to think that we are still very much in “anything can happen” territory.
