‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6, episode 12 review: Getting set for Chris and Ann’s exit
Even though you knew that Ann and Chris are leaving “Parks and Recreation” on this upcoming episode, what was pretty interesting in watching Thursday night’s new episode was seeing just how little this major plot point was mentioned. Instead, we just had Ann using the members of the Parks Department to complain relentlessly about her pregnancy woes. That was fairly funny, but also somewhat strange given that it was a Ron Swanson story that really did not have Ron saying much of anything.
This episode as a whole, entitled “Farmer’s Market,” was somewhat uneven. The biggest highlight of it was watching Leslie and Ben try to wrestle with their new work dynamics, as he was now technically her boss, and she tried to use almost anything at her disposal to ensure that a man she didn’t care for at the Farmer’s Market … and for good reason. He was selling vegetables using people wearing very little clothing! The back-and-forth between Amy Poehler and Adam Scott was in fine form here throughout.
As for one other story, could Andy really have a great career as a children’s singer? He possibly found a new career for himself after just performing by chance in a gig set up by April. This was rather sweet, and if something more comes of it, we’ll be excited. Thanks to Chris Pratt being so busy, Andy hasn’t really had an opportunity to have a full story per se at any point this season.
All in all, we enjoyed this little trip to the Farmer’s Market; we just wish that given the timing of the episode, it had been more substantial. Grade: B-.
