‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 5 spoilers: A nice little scoop on Daniela Ruah’s Kensi

Whenever you have an actress who has to depart a show for a few episodes due to whatever reason, you pretty much have to deal with the fact that they will just not be onscreen for a time. However, the folks behind the scenes here can celebrate that thanks to some shrewd preparation, they are not going to feel any sort of void whatsoever when Daniela Ruah takes some time away this season.

According to a new report from TVLine, the producers for the show were able to film enough footage of Ruah to ensure that Kensi will not be absent from the show at all in the time in which the actress is away on maternity leave. Therefore, you will probably not notice too substantial a change to the show itself, and that is pretty remarkable when you look at what traditionally tends to happen when you have shows trying to pull something like this off. Usually, it becomes obvious that a key player is missing, since the laws of TV often dictate that you are required to keep someone around as much as possible.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” may also help this whole situation by just relegating most of the Kensi stories in the immediate future to ones that don’t command a whole lot of airtime. Just because Ruah will be featured in just about every way moving forward, that does not necessarily mean that you are going to be seeing a ton of her. It’s best to just keep your expectations low, but feel happy (especially since Deeks and Kensi are such a frequently-shipped couple) that there is some good stuff coming up.
