‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 now using football for promotion
There are so many reasons why “The Walking Dead” is such a smash hit on TV, whether you are talking about the storytelling, the special effects, the zombies, the gore, the characters, the actors, and the zombies. (Wait, did we already say zombies? It is important enough to mention twice.)
What we also want to stress now is that away from the show itself, “The Walking Dead” has a marketing team so smart, you would think that they are hungry zombies waiting to carve off the flesh of anyone and everyone in their way. That may be a little graphic, but the analogy still works! These people are hungry for praise, and they’re going to get it for using a certain big NFL game to advertise a marathon coming up on Super Bowl Sunday.
In reality, we cannot sit here and act like this is the first time ever that “The Walking Dead” has decided to try to take advantage of football to boost some of their ratings, mostly because they have done it a number of times already. But for February 2, this is pretty smart in that you’re not going to get monster ratings, but you want at least some sort of counter-programming in case there are some football haters out there. The only trouble the show may run into? It’s possible that if the game is a blowout, there could be zombies wandering around the field throughout the entire fourth quarter.
