‘True Detective’ episode 3 preview: First look at ‘The Locked Room’

HBO logo“True Detective” has already started to really get going, and based on what we have in the promo for next week’s episode, the story for Cohle and Hart is going to get even more intense from here on out.

The next new episode of the show is entitled “The Locked Room,” and if you take a look at the synopsis below, you can see some of the disturbing stuff that is going to be born out of the imagery that we have seen already:

“A hidden image at the burned-out church leads Cohle and Hart to Joel Theriot, a tent-revival minister whose parishioners finger a scarred “tall man” seen with Dora Lange. Brought in for interrogation, a sex offender matching the description is quickly dismissed by Cohle, despite offering a confession. Hart gets sidetracked after Maggie sets Cohle up with a friend at a C&W bar. Looking to establish a pattern of murder, Cohle pores over old case files, finding a connection with a woman assumed to have drowned years earlier.”

It really is not that often that we say this, but “True Detective” really is one of those shows where the less that you spoil about it, the better. This allows for there to be a much greater window of surprise into everything that happens, and gives the story time to grow and develop. Over the first two episodes, what has really worked is that everyone has taken their time to allow the tension and the intensity to build.
