‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: Kevin Bacon teases more about Ryan Hardy’s journey
There is quite a bit about “The Following” season 2 right now that is a mystery; heck, even the time of its season premiere is a mystery. Thanks in part to if airing following the NFC Championship Game, the start time is going to vary. Let’s just not hope for some sort of extended-overtime thriller that forces you to wait until all hours of the night to watch.
The real reason for Fox launching the show at such a time is to give it the biggest ratings push that it possibly can, and that makes us hopeful that the story of Ryan Hardy’s next move is going to get off to at least a pretty spectacular start. When the tale picks up a year after the events of the first season, life will have changed for him in many ways … though ironically, Kevin Bacon teases to TVLine that there is going to be a strange parallel of sorts between his character and the man in Joe Carroll that he has been chasing for such a long time:
“I am not drinking. I am going to meetings. My heart is in good shape. I’m running … In a strange way, I’m following a little bit in Joe’s footsteps… You see a happier, more together kind of guy. Now, it is The Following, so it doesn’t last for long.”
Personally, we’re willing to bet that by the end of the premiere, the wheels are going to come completely off for this guy, and it is a deep dive intro craziness yet again as he tries to figure out just what he is going to do with his life now that Joe has actually revealed himself to still be alive. (That’s not a spoiler, since Fox has already confirmed it.)
