‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ spoilers: Andy Samberg teases Adam Sandler, Super Bowl episode
Andy Samberg is right in the middle of having himself one heck of an awesome Sunday night. Both he and his show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” are nominated for a Golden Globe, and he also has a chance to be overjoyed about it airing after the Super Bowl early next month.
In case you haven’t heard, Andy’s “That’s My Boy” co-star Adam Sandler is going to be stopping by for a guest spot. Speaking at the Golden Globes red carpet pre-show on E! Sunday night, he said that Sandler is just one of many stars who are going to be making cameos during the episode.
Samberg also confirmed something to us that we do consider by and large to be long-expected news when it comes to the episode: It will be airing after “New Girl,” which is the bigger hit for the two right now when it comes to the ratings. When it comes to the numbers alone, that does make some sense, and we also understand that Zooey Deschanel is a pretty big star at this point.
However, we personally feel like this move is a little bit of a mistake. Why is that? Think along the lines that it does not really take advantage of the show’s potential here when it comes to the Super Bowl’s male viewers. You have a former football player in Terry Crews in the cast, and it just seems to fit the football audience better. We would put it first for these reasons, and plus, it’s a show that could really use the bump in viewership. If more people realized just how funny it is, then they would watch!
