‘Mad Men’ season 7, ‘Better Call Saul,’ ‘Hell on Wheels’ premieres estimated by AMC

AMC has finally figured out their scheduling plans for the rest of the year, and they include a little bit of everything: There are some big risks that need to be taken, but also some standbys that they can still rely upon in order to continue to keep themselves steady and strong after losing “Breaking Bad” last year.

Let’s start with that show’s spinoff in “Better Call Saul.” The Bob Odenkirk series is going to launch on the network at some point in November, which means that it will be most likely during the season of “The Walking Dead.” Does this mean that they are going to form some sort of monster Sunday lineup? It’s possible, and we would love to see something like “Better Call Saul” / “The Walking Dead” / “Talking Dead.” (The latter was announced as renewed during AMC’s TCA event today, which is probably the least surprising news ever.)

Meanwhile, “Mad Men” season 7 is going to air the first half of its final episodes starting on Sunday, April 13, while their new drama “Turn” will premiere a week before that with a 90-minute premiere. (Sadly, it looks like there’s not going to be a “Talking Mad” aftershow made for this one.)

When it comes to some of their other shows, “Halt,” a new series about the start-up of the computer age, is going to be premiering at some point in June (around the same sort of time that you typically see “The Killing”). Meanwhile, expect to see more of “Hell on Wheels” a little later this summer. While it seems like the Sunday spot once occupied by “Breaking Bad” could be open for it, we’d prefer them to stay planted on Saturdays mostly so that there was no real competition for it to face off against.

Of course, we are going to have more news on “Better Call Saul” and some of the other shows on the schedule as they become available.
