‘The Voice’ UK video: Watch Kylie Minogue, will.i.am, Tom Jones perform together

If there is one thing on every version of “The Voice” that qualifies for being in complete “hot mess” territory, it is the sort of Frankenstein performances that typically start off the seasons. For whatever reason, someone in production felt like it would be a bright idea to get all of the coaches on the stage together, and then try to see what unravels from there. These judges could not be more different when it comes to musical style… it would be like hearing Drake, Celine Dion and Mick Jagger do a song together. Not good in concept and not likely good on the ears.

But, we have to admit that there is something in the video below that makes us feel like this performance is not entirely horrendous. Was it the greatest thing that we’ve eve heard? Hardly, but it at least seems like Kylie Minogue, Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones, and will.i.am are enjoying their time together just as much as they did when it was Will, Tom, Danny O’Donoghue, and Jessie J.

Admittedly, this season is going to be a difficult one for us to watch onto on the same level as the past two, mostly because we were massive fans of what Danny and Jessie J brought to the show in terms of personality and energy. Jessie J in particular was probably one of the best judges that we’ve seen, mostly because she found a way to still have opinions despite being on a mostly-positive show, and even when she went negative, she found a way to say it without making someone feel bad. She was very empathetic in a world where so many people have forgotten what that is.

Luckily, we’re going to have a chance to see how this entire new crew of coaches fares when “The Voice” UK comes on the air this weekend.
