‘Justified’ season 5 spoilers: Walton Goggins on Boyd’s current mental state
Do you think that Boyd Crowder is really ready for everything that coming at him on “Justified” season 5? If there is a single word that we would use to describe some of the actions of the man during the premiere, it would be “confused.” There were some times in here where it felt like the guy legitimately seemed to be somewhat contradictory when it comes to some of his morals, or whether or not he chose to perceive himself as a killer.
So while we’re slightly confused over all of that, in Walton Goggins we trust! The guy’s amazing enough that he’ll help us to make sense of it all soon enough. Even after reading his new quote from TV Guide on just where Boyd is mentally right now, we understand a little bit more than we did previously:
“He’s just barely treading water. He’s kind of a dog wagging his tail; he’s just chasing it around and around. It’s a very dangerous place for a person like Boyd to be.”
Basically, we read this to mean that Goggins character is in a perpetual state of chaos, watching one crazy thing happen and then doing a series of crazy things on his own. Until he finds a way to get Ava back we cannot really see the guy getting his head on straight. Nothing and no one has really motivated him on anywhere near the same sort of level that she has, and this is going to be a struggle that lasts for a little while with him. As for Raylan, he may be a little bit distracted for the time being thanks to what is happening with the Crowe family.
