Oscars 2014: See first poster featuring Ellen DeGeneres

Only Ellen DeGeneres can find a way to combine classy and comedy in a way that is so simple and also effective.

Thanks to that, we present you now with the first poster for the 2014 Academy Awards, which are airing a little later this year on Sunday, March 2 following the Olympic Games. But here is the thing about this poster: Why make the premiere date so small? Even when you choose to click on it and expand, the font of the date still makes it very hard to read. We know that Ellen and the Oscar statue are the two things that you want to highlight, but since the date is a little later then usual, we would at least make a little bit more effort into trying to make sure that people can see just what it says.

As for the rest of this, the classy part of this clearly comes with the trophy as well as with Ellen’s tux. The colors here of black and gold are also something that the Academy knows very well at this point, and really has no reason to stray from.

As for the comedy, there’s a little bit of silliness that comes from the fact that she is sitting cross-legged on the floor in that outfit. What, were there no chairs available?

The nominees for the Oscars this year have yet to even be announced, but it will be coming up soon. There is still some entertainment to come out of the show thanks to the monologues, the speeches, and the comedy bits that are designed to at least poke fun at a couple of things when it comes to the industry.
