‘So You Think You Can Dance’ season 11: Auditions start in Atlanta; see full schedule
Are you the best undiscovered dancer in America, or are you at least someone very capable of producing a ridiculous three-minute segment on a reality show? Either way, we have good news: Auditions for “So You Think You Can Dance” season 11 are almost upon us!
We’ve got all the information that you need to know below about where the auditions are happening this year, and also when. There are five separate cities that they are being held in, and unless you live somewhere like Alaska, Hawaii, West Texas or the Pacific Northwest, most of them are in places that you can get to without a horrendous amount of trouble (at least so long as you have a good car and a few days of free time). They’ve done a good job of spreading these cities out across the country, though we are somewhat surprised there is no return to the dance hub that is Salt Lake City.
Monday, January 13 – Atlanta at the Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. NE.
Monday, January 20 – Philadelphia at the Merriam Theatre, 250 South Broad Street.
Friday, January 31 – New Orleans at the Ernest N.Morial Convention Center, 900 Convention Center Blvd.
Thursday, February 27 – Chicago at the Oriental Theatre, 24 West Randolph Street.
Sunday, March 23 – Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theatre, 842 Broadway.
In addition to the travel time, the show requests that auditioners make a couple of days available in the event of a callback. So be prepared for almost anything that happens. Oh, and you need to be a U.S. citizen or resident to apply, but that is pretty standard-operating procedure for all reality shows. Nothing new.
Given that this is one of our favorite competitions on the air, here is to hoping for some great contestants showing up this year, and for a season that continues to build on the momentum that we had most of this past summer.
