‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Who will be there for Nina Dobrev’s Katherine?
In case you somehow missed the memo on this past “Vampire Diaries” episode, things are not looking so great for Elena’s doppelganger Katherine. Now that she is a human, she is being forced to experience something that she was able to avoid for the better part of five centuries: Death. Just to make things even worse, this is a slow, painful process for her, and she is going to come to the revelation quickly in the 100th episode (airing on The CW January 23) that there is not necessarily going to be a cavalcade of people offering her up love and support.
As a matter of fact, executive producer Caroline Dries hints to TVLine that there really could only be one person who shows up to support Katherine through what is a pretty difficult time, and that is someone in Stefan who has not always been there for her:
“She doesn’t have a huge fan base at the Salvatore house where she is, so Stefan is the person who’s there for her.”
This 100th episode is going to be stuffed in some ways with all sorts of surprises. We’re going to see the return of Sara Canning as Aunt Jenna, and there are possibly some other favorites from past seasons who are going to turn up. On the subject of if Joseph Morgan (Klaus) will be one of them, all we can say is that he and another character from “The Originals” are going to be making an appearance at some point during the winter part of this season. That will be an interesting appearance for so many reasons, mostly because this is a guy who has history with everyone there, especially Katherine who has spent centuries running from him.
Are you surprised that Stefan could be Katherine’s comfort, or that she could really get any comfort at all given the sort of person that she’s been? Share your thoughts.
